Factors Influencing The Quality Stability Of Plasma Arc Cutting

The stability of plasma arc cutting machine will affect the cutting quality. The instability of plasma arc will easily lead to the defects such as uneven incision, accretion and so on. It will also lead to the reduction of the life of the relevant components of the control system, and the frequent replacement of nozzles and electrodes. In view of this phenomenon, some solutions are put forward.

1. High air pressure

If the input air pressure is far more than 0.45MPa, after the plasma arc is formed, the excessive air flow will blow away the concentrated arc column, which will disperse the energy of the arc column and weaken the cutting strength of the plasma arc. The causes of high air pressure are: improper input air regulation, excessive regulation of air filter pressure reducing valve or failure of air filter pressure reducing valve.

The solution is to check whether the pressure of the air compressor is properly adjusted and whether the pressure of the air compressor and air filter pressure reducing valve is out of order. After starting up, if the regulating switch of air filter pressure reducing valve is rotated, the gauge pressure does not change, indicating that the air filter pressure reducing valve is out of order and needs to be replaced.


2. Low air pressure

When the plasma cutting machine is working, if the working air pressure is far lower than the air pressure required in the manual, it means that the discharge speed of the plasma arc is weakened, and the input air flow is less than the specified value. At this time, the plasma arc with high energy and speed cannot be formed, resulting in the phenomenon of poor incision quality, cutting impervious and incision accretion. The reasons for insufficient air pressure are: insufficient air input from the air compressor, low pressure regulation of the air control valve of the cutter, oil contamination in the solenoid valve, blocked air path, etc.

The solution is to observe the output pressure display of the air compressor before use. If it does not meet the requirements, adjust the pressure or repair the air compressor. If the input air pressure has reached the requirements, check whether the adjustment of air filter pressure reducing valve is correct and whether the gauge pressure display can meet the cutting requirements. Otherwise, the air filter pressure reducing valve shall be maintained daily to ensure that the input air is dry and free of oil contamination.


3. The input AC voltage is too low

There are large-scale electric facilities on the site of plasma cutting machine, and the failure of main circuit elements in the cutting machine will make the input AC voltage too low.

The solution is to check whether the power grid connected to the plasma cutting machine has sufficient bearing capacity and whether the power line specification meets the requirements. The installation site of plasma cutting machine shall be far away from large electrical equipment and places with frequent electrical interference. In the process of use, the dust in the cutter and the dirt on the components shall be cleaned regularly, and the wire shall be checked for aging.
